About

Born to Eritrean/Sudanese parents in Saudi Arabia and later raised in the UAE, I spent a lot of my youth travelling back and forth between the Middle East & Africa. This experience was defining and has shaped my perception and, as a result, my photography. In 2016 I moved to Melbourne and have since called it home. My journey so far, as somewhat of a nomad, has been pivotal to my documentary photography. It has been a driving force behind my desire to tell the authentic stories of people from all over the world and the places that bring them together.

My goal, everytime I pick up a camera, is to capture the essence of life around me. My passion for photography comes from an interest in the world, a desire to reflect on the narratives of life and society, from the mundane to the extraordinary. With every shutter click, I hope to provoke a thought or challenge a perception. My wish is to leave a mark on the hearts and minds of everyone who engages with my work.

As a photographer who embraces the rich tapestry of both film and digital mediums, I find myself regularly fluctuating between one and the other based on the stories that need to be told. Some moments call for the tactile warmth of film and it’s nostalgic grain, while others require the cutting-edge precision and versatility of digital. However, I like to think that the goal of my work transcends the confines of any single medium, and is instead a journey to weave together a tapestry of stories that resonate.
